Destination Weddings || Destination Wedding Photographer

I’m one of those really annoying people who makes a lot of goals and lists. I genuinely believe that if you want something, you have to put it out into the universe. I think it’s one of the reasons I became a photographer… back before I had a real business, I still told people – I’m a photographer, I’m a photographer – even though I was at my 9 to 5 job with no hope of escape. I kept putting it out there – and working my ass off – and eventually I was able to quit my job to pursue this dream full time. Everything I put out there came true. And maybe one has nothing to do with the other, but I definitely think it’s easier to accomplish something when everyone knows what it is you’re trying to accomplish… what dream you’re trying to make a reality. Maybe it just makes you work harder to avoid failure. I don’t know, but it’s just something I do and believe.

This summer, I’ll be basically living out of my suitcase. Today is the only Sunday I’m at home until July. I’m not going anywhere amazing or exotic – except for California, which is exotic to me! – but I am going to get to work in some really cool cities, with some really cool people. Aside from a severe fear of flying, which doesn’t stop me from getting on planes, but is probably giving me an ulcer – I genuinely love to travel, and I always hoped I’d get to travel for business. Last December I dipped my toe into the water and shot my very first destination wedding – in Mexico – and since then I’ve been hoping another far away destination wedding would come my way.

So that’s what I’m putting out into the universe today… I want to shoot some amazing destination weddings in 2012 and 2013. I want to travel to some incredible places I’ve never been and photograph your beautiful wedding. I’m thinking… Italy (which I’ve been to, but it’s my favorite place in the world, so I’d like to go back ASAP); Southern France; Iceland; St. Lucia; Hawaii; New Zealand; Tahiti; Juneau, Alaska; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montreal; Amsterdam; Scotland; and Greece. (Although I’m definitely open to places not on this list!) So let’s make it happen… where are you getting married? Can I come? ;-)

Hey Katie Jane! You can come to the exotic locale of…. NJ or PA and photograph my wedding to Ken! We’re so excited!!

I love this post. Good for you. I would put my money on you and the universe, betting you end up shooting in a few of these locations soon.
