I had THE BEST time this weekend. It was just such a fun, relaxing weekend, and after the GO GO GO pace I’ve had the past few weeks/months, it was a nice little break. (A break that keeps on going next weekend when I head to the Outer Banks for a week of beach time!)
Friday night, John and I grilled out on our terrace. (I say “John and I” but… y’know… John did the grilling.) It was such a nice, relaxing evening. The next day was our five year New York anniversary, but it was kind of a crummy day, so we spent the day hanging out at home. I sat on my sofa and literally read for about six hours straight. I cannot remember the last time I got to sit down and read for six hours – it was AWESOME.
Saturday night John and I went to the amazing Gramercy Tavern for dinner to celebrate our anniversary – ohmygosh so so good. And then at midnight we headed to the Empire State Building. I had never been, and when John asked what I wanted to do for our NYC anniversary, nothing seemed more perfect than a trip to the ESB. It was sort of windy and foggy out, but that actually made the view from the top kind of amazing. The whole city looked glowy… it was very Gotham. (Tip: If you want to go to the Empire State Building and not have to wait in line – go at midnight! It was so quiet! We went straight upstairs.) Just a perfect way to spend our evening.
The next day I got up and headed upstate to visit the awesome Zan & Stephen’s farm! I also got to meet the lovely Ang of Lowbrow Events, and Zan took us around and let us meet all the animals. I had never been that close to cows or sheep before, and it was so cool! It was unbelievably green and gorgeous upstate, and just nice to get out of the city for a day. (Although I had absolutely no idea what to wear to a farm! I showed up in gladiator sandals, so Zan gave me a pair of Stephen’s boots and a rain coat to wear around, since my cardigan wasn’t cutting it. Sandals were definitely inappropriate!) It was such an awesome day!
The best part of the weekend was that I got to knock going to the Empire State Building of my 101 in 1001 List! What did you do this weekend?
