Although I used to be primarily a family photographer, I don’t really do a whole lot of family portrait sessions anymore. Weddings and elopements have taken over my life and business for the most part. But every once in a while – mostly in the fall, which seems to be the season for family portraits – I get to do one, and I have such a blast! I photographed this sweet family on the east side of Central Park a few weekends ago, and it was just a perfect fall day. Typically when I do a family portrait session with very small children, my only direction is to play together and have fun, and I’ll run right along with you, snapping away. I want the photographs to reflect a family’s natural interactions with one another.
This awesome family was so much fun to work with – their sweet one year old was in the BEST mood. He was so interested in me and my camera, and we just kind of let him run wild in this little area. Some of my favorites from this session are of him and his dad chasing each other. Although I’ll probably never go back to just being a family photographer full time again, I can’t deny how much fun it is to work with families, and it’s always such a treat when the opportunity arises!
