Michelle found my website and called me about a week before their August wedding – they were having a hard time finding a photographer available to photograph their elopement on short notice. I listened to her talk about Dawn, their relationship, and how much it meant that they could finally get legally married in New York. After fourteen years together, a commitment ceremony, and two sons… they were ready to have their union legally recognized. It was in the midst of my busiest time of year, but there was no possible way I could say no to this wedding. I wanted to be a part of this amazing family’s day so much.
On the morning of the wedding, we all met at City Hall – Michelle and Dawn both looking unbelievably gorgeous in their wedding gowns. They brought along their siblings and sons, and it was an absolutely perfect, intimate affair. Michelle & Dawn’s wedding was the first legal same-sex marriage I photographed after the new law went into place last summer, and it was such an honor to be a part of their day.
After the wedding we headed to the LOVE sculpture and then Central Park for portraits. Everyone had hot dogs to celebrate and they popped a bottle of champagne. It was perfect. Michelle & Dawn, thank you for being so fantastic, and thank you for allowing me to document your beautiful elopement.
