Yesterday morning I woke up to an absolute maelstrom outside my window. It was raining so hard, I couldn’t see the buildings around us, and I held my breath as I checked the forecast for mid-afternoon, when I was supposed to meet Lorraine & Nik for their Central Park elopement. It wasn’t looking good. I carefully packed my camera bag, including plastic bags to cover my gear and extra umbrellas. Just in case. The rain had momentarily stopped when I left my house, and I crossed my fingers for a four hour window of nice weather for Lorraine & Nik. And somehow it all just worked out! It seemed the only time it was really raining during their wedding is when we were riding around in the amazing 50’s checkered cab they’d hired for the day. The rest of the time, we were incredibly lucky, and the rain mostly stayed away when we were actually shooting.
This wedding felt like such a long time coming – Lorraine & Nik first contacted me in January, and since then I have loved getting to know them through emails. I was really really excited for this one. Today is actually their ten year anniversary, and I can’t think of a more amazing way to celebrate than hopping over the pond to get married in New York City. And I have to say – Lorraine’s dress is one of the best dresses I’ve ever seen! I loved all the little polka dots – it suited her so perfectly! Lorraine & Nik – thank you for letting me spend the day with you yesterday and for being so wonderful to work with!! Congratulations!
