Yesterday morning I woke up to an absolute maelstrom outside my window. It was raining so hard, I couldn’t see the buildings around us, and I held my breath as I checked the forecast for mid-afternoon, when I was supposed to meet Lorraine & Nik for their Central Park elopement. It wasn’t looking good. I carefully packed my camera bag, including plastic bags to cover my gear and extra umbrellas. Just in case. The rain had momentarily stopped when I left my house, and I crossed my fingers for a four hour window of nice weather for Lorraine & Nik. And somehow it all just worked out! It seemed the only time it was really raining during their wedding is when we were riding around in the amazing 50’s checkered cab they’d hired for the day. The rest of the time, we were incredibly lucky, and the rain mostly stayed away when we were actually shooting.

This wedding felt like such a long time coming – Lorraine & Nik first contacted me in January, and since then I have loved getting to know them through emails. I was really really excited for this one. Today is actually their ten year anniversary, and I can’t think of a more amazing way to celebrate than hopping over the pond to get married in New York City. And I have to say – Lorraine’s dress is one of the best dresses I’ve ever seen! I loved all the little polka dots – it suited her so perfectly! Lorraine & Nik – thank you for letting me spend the day with you yesterday and for being so wonderful to work with!! Congratulations!

I totally teared up when I read that they got married on their 10th anniversary!!! I love that. And rain for good luck! (But hooray for it letting up when you needed it to.) I adore the way sunlight filters the world right after it rains, and Katie as usual has captured it splendidly. That last picture, in the middle of the crowd, is my favorite. Congratulations, Lorraine & Nik, on ten years and many more to come!
(p.s. you both look so young and beautiful today that I never would have guessed you are old enough to have been together so long already!)

There’s something extra beautiful about these pictures- I don’t know if it’s the comfort and security that radiates from these two, if it’s the AMAZING dress, or if it’s how good looking this couple is. But there’s something. And I love that first black and white photo- Lorraine is positively radiant.

    Congratulations, Nik and Lorraine!

Wow thank you everyone for your fab comments! :)

We had an amazing time on our wedding day and it was such a privilege to have Katie Jane as our photographer! She has such an amazing talent! Katie was the only photographer we contacted for the wedding. As soon as we saw her work we knew she was the one!

Once again Katie, it was a pleasure meeting you and sharing our wedding day with you! Can’t wait to see the rest of the photos! :)
