I don’t even know where to begin when describing Sam & Jen’s wedding, and I apologize in advance because this post is going to be rather epic. Sam & Jen were my second to last big wedding this year, and everything about them and their day was just spectacular.
I started the day with the two of them and their mates of honor as they got ready in their gorgeous Brooklyn apartment. Honestly, from the first moment that day I didn’t feel like I was working. The atmosphere was so light and happy. I love it when my couples get ready together – it’s usually just a little more more relaxing. Anni Bruno – who I always love working with – did such a beautiful job on their make-up! Afterwards I headed off with Sam to The Green Building, so these two could get dressed separately and have a First Look.
Jen had never seen Sam’s dress, and their First Look was one of the best moments of the day – I think Jen’s face was so priceless. After a few portraits, it was time to get married!! Sam & Jen’s ceremony was beyond unbelievable – it was one of the most personal and heartfelt ceremonies I’ve ever photographed, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house – including my own.
After the ceremony I kidnapped them for some sunset portraits before they headed off to party. And oh – did they party. Dancing, champagne, delicious food, and best of all – a surprise appearance by the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck! It was such an amazing night in every way, and being part of it was such a wonderful experience for me. Sam & Jen – you know I adore you guys! Wishing you two so much love!
(Huge thank you to my second shooter, Jon Lemon, for volunteering to climb on top of the ice cream truck in the rain for some amazing photographs!)
