Today is my first official work day in my new office space. After four years of working in our livingroom, I actually have my own office in the new house. I still kind of can’t believe it. It’s been a strange morning – I had a good little routine at the old apartment, despite working in the livingroom, but I’m still trying to find my footing in the new space. I don’t know what my days are going to look like here and figuring out a new routine is a little bit challenging. (As you can see since I am just now blogging at 12:30pm.)
I realize I have a fabulous opportunity to shake things up – to start anew, restructure my days to maximize productivity, and best of all… close the door on my work at the end of the day and focus on spending my evenings away from the computer and with my husband. (That is what I’m most excited about.) I don’t really know what my days will ultimately look like here, but I’m excited to figure it out.
I also just wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you to my clients who have been incredibly supportive during this absolutely insane month of travel, moving, and more travel. It has not been easy to keep my head above water this month, but you guys have been so understanding as I worked outside the bounds of normal business hours (1am emails – yikes) and I am so grateful. I have said it before and I’ll say it again: my clients are the best ever.
Now I just want to throw some confetti in the air and dance around… Looking at the calendar at the beginning of the month, I felt incredibly overwhelmed. How was I going to get everything done? I had to go to a conference – where I was stuck for an extra day because of a snowstorm; we were moving; February is always my busiest booking month; and I had to go to North Carolina because I was throwing my best friend a bridal shower. (All on top of the regular schedule of elopements, portraits, editing…) But now it’s the end of the month, and I’ve survived it all – What If, the move, the party, getting my year booked up… (even a pilot who had to take two tries to land our plane in North Carolina because he missed the approach the first time – FUN!) – and my house is even mostly unpacked! Champagne all around!
I’m looking forward to getting back into the groove of blogging, answering emails in a timely manner, and settling into life at our new house. After the last two months, I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year brings!
