Yesterday I photographed Rachel & Deccan’s sunset elopement at Turtle Pond. I just loved every little thing about this wedding – the detailing of Rachel’s dress, her gorgeous Jimmy Choos, Deccan’s unusual boutonniere, their sweet ceremony and kind, welcoming friends, and most of all, I adored Rachel & Deccan themselves. I’m so happy they decided to elope in NYC!
It was a spectacular night for a wedding – gorgeous, golden light and still way cooler than normal for July. We met at their hotel – The Surrey on the Upper East Side – and then Deccan traveled off to Turtle Pond to meet Judie, while I stayed with Rachel who was finishing getting ready. I was so happy they chose Turtle Pond for their ceremony. I think it’s such a great, underrated spot in Central Park, and I’d love to shoot there more. Afterwards we explored the East Side of the park, took photos around the back of the Met, and then walked up 5th Avenue. Although I love being a west sider, I love shooting on the Upper East Side – it’s just classic, old New York City, and it paired with Rachel & Deccan’s style so well.
I really can’t wait to share this whole wedding from beginning to end, because it was just perfect, but here’s a small sneak peek. Rachel & Deccan – thank you for being so amazing to work with in every way! I had such a wonderful time with you! Happy honeymooning!
