Looking for Subjects for a New Project

A friend of mine recently had a boudoir session done that was unlike any session I’ve ever really seen. There were no cheesy poses, nothing that could have graced the pages of Maxim. The photos were tasteful, honest, and beautiful. And for the first time, it made me really want to consider taking photographs like that as well. After I shot Amber’s portrait session last month, I knew I wanted to shoot more one on one sessions with women in general. I felt like I wanted to empower women – of all shapes/sizes/ages – with photographs that make them see themselves in a new light.

I’m looking for a few people willing to hop in front of my camera for a portrait session that will be a mix of a head shot session and a boudoir session. Pinup this is NOT. So if that’s what you’re envisioning, fear not. I just want to take simple, honest photographs that are in the style of boudoir, but where the subject will remain clothed, if that makes sense. (You can see my inspiration board here to get a better idea of what I’m talking about, since I feel like I’m not explaining it very well.)

The session will probably last about an hour, and you’ll receive a high-res gallery of touched up photographs of yourself to use as you please. I’d love to schedule these sessions for weekdays in January and February, so you must be available then, and be okay with the photographs appearing on my website. The sessions are 100% free. I’m looking for 3-4 people, and it will be first come, first served. I should also add, I am NOT looking for professional models.

This project may become a little side business in the future, but right now I just want to explore a different area of photography, and find a new creative outlet. Just drop me an email at katie[at]katiejanephoto.com if you’re interested!

    Katie,

I am your Mom’s friend in NC…I love your new project and want to throw another bug in your ear. Most of the time photographers doing boudoir type photos want young women to photograph. There are so many truly beautiful, sensual older women out there….some who have no one empowering their spirits letting them know they are still beautiful. As a 61 year old, I am well aware of the tributes that age takes away from us and the battle that we as women wage with the media and society to remain convinced that we are as gorgeous at these ages just in different but similar ways.
Try these type of shots with some older women as well. You are so very talented that I am sure you will come up with a theme for these pictures of carefully aged women in their prime really. It is at this age that we really most often come into ourselves and realize who we are and how sensual we can truly be. I think you may find it fascinating!

  • […] See where my boudoir project takes me. I’m officially starting my boudoir project next week, and I would love to see it […]
