I photographed my friend Nicki and her awesome husband, Alex, a few weeks ago along the Hudson River Greenway. I had been itching to do a session along the river. Their session was during sunset, but now I am dying to do a sunrise session over there as well. It was so nice to get off the beaten path and shoot somewhere different.
I photographed this session on film – on both a Nikon F100 and a Mamiya 645AF. You’re going to be seeing a lot more film in the coming months around here, as I have made the decision to incorporate it into all of my work. I’ll still be shooting digital as well, and have no current plans to change that, but shooting on film again feels like such a homecoming for me. I think I was probably part of the last generation of photographers to learn on film, and it feels like I’m getting back to my roots. I love how much more thoughtful, as a photographer, film makes me. How much more deliberate I am about each photograph I take because there are only so many frames.
Nicki & Alex, thank you so much for everything! It was such a joy to photograph you two!
