It’s time for my favorite post of the year – the best of 2016! This year was so wonderful, work wise. I could not have had a more delightful clientele. I really cannot express to all of you who have allowed me to photograph you and be a part of your weddings how much that has meant to me. Thank you for making my job so happy, so easy, and so much fun. I am beyond grateful.
A lot of these weddings I haven’t yet blogged, and I will get around to doing that sometime in the next few months, but I didn’t want to wait on sharing my favorites from the year. This was such an interesting year. I got to photograph couples in unique locations all over the city, from the Columbia University campus to a grove of cherry blossoms in Central Park, from a gorgeous cathedral on the Upper East Side to – I’m not going to lie, the highlight of my year – the Gershwin Theater. In November, I photographed my final City Hall wedding, which was bittersweet, as I have so many fond memories shooting there. For the fourth year running, an overwhelming majority of my couples were Australian. Thanks, Australia! You keep my business afloat. And this year I had more sunrise weddings than ever before. I always offer it as an option, and over a quarter of my clients took me up on it. More sunrise elopements in 2017, please.
And speaking of 2017… I want to talk a little bit about my plans for the coming year. This year I’m going to focus more on newborns and families. I will only be taking on a handful of elopements, as my schedule allows. My twin daughters are at a (mostly) delightful age, and I really want to spend a lot more time with them this year. As I’ve mentioned before, I will no longer be photographing elopements at City Hall, but I will take on weddings anywhere else in NYC. If you’re eloping in 2017 and interested in getting on my calendar, I hope you’ll get in touch!
These are my favorite images from 2016. Some I love because of the composition or light, some I love because of the moment, some I love for reasons I can’t explain… I just do. I’ve included my favorites from the handful of engagement sessions I photographed this year, as well as my favorite portraits from my time in Iceland. Next week I’ll have a round up of my favorites from all the family and newborn sessions of 2016, so keep an eye out for that. Now on to the pretty!
