About

I am Katie Jane Goulah (she/her), an editorial portrait and travel photographer. I have been a professional photographer for 15 years. I currently split my time between New York City and The Hudson Valley.

My work is inspired by found light, the deep colors in the works of Johannes Vermeer and Frans Hals, and finding quiet moments amidst chaos. I was given my first camera at 13, and it was love at first click. I shoot both digital and analog, and as a teenager, I spent many hours in my school’s darkroom enchanted by the magic of developing my own photographs.

Aside from photography, I dabble in gardening, painting, quilting, writing, and baking. I love thrift shopping, musical theater, and reading as much as possible.

I am married to John, and we live in Harlem with our nine-year-old identical twins, a Portuguese Water Dog that hates water named Nova, and about 50 house plants.

I write a Substack about creativity and nurturing your art practice called CREATIVE AF. It’s geared toward anyone who wants to develop a regular creative practice - especially parents - whether you are a professional or hobbyist.

If you have an idea for a project we can work on together, please feel free to get in touch.
